Pakistan cricket board (PCB) took a massive step following the handshake controversy during the high-voltage India vs Pakistan match at the Dubai International Stadium, and suspended its Director of international cricket Usman Wahla for the delay in lodging a formal protest, according to a report in A Sports. The Asia Cup match was played amid massive backlash in India, as fans called for the boycott of the clash for Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack. While the BCCI gave a green signal to the contest following the government’s approval, the Indian team refused to shake hands with Pakistan players after the match, leaving the PCB furious. The board called the act against the spirit of the game. Indian captain, Suryakumar Yadav, however, defended the decision saying that some things in life are bigger than sportsman spirit as he dedicated the win to armed forces and the Pahalgam victims. “Our government and BCCI, we were aligned together. The rest, we came here, we took a call. I feel we came here just to play the game. I think we gave them a proper reply. Few things in life are ahead of the sportsman spirit. We stand with all the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and we stand with their families. As I said, we dedicate this win to our brave armed forces who took part in Operation Sindoor,” said the India captain. PCB Threatens To Boycott Asia CupPCB chief Mohsin Naqvi took a strong stance and wrote to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), demanding the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft from the ongoing tournament, threatening to boycott the tournament if he is not removed. The PCB accused Pycroft of failing his duties and neglecting the spirit of the game. According to the report, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is considering sanctions against India for handshake drama, but the BCCI has denied receiving any complaint from the ACC. “BCCI has not received any official complaint from ACC regarding no handshake or closing the door incident,” the BCCI Source told Times Now.
