One of the biggest debates in sports among fans and media alike is who deserves the title of the greatest player of all time — better known as the “GOAT.”
In the NBA, that conversation often comes down to two names: LeBron James, who is gearing up for his 23rd season, and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.
Ahead of the new season, the Kansas City Chiefs shared a video of star quarterback and avid basketball fan Patrick Mahomes participating in a rapid-fire player vs. player segment. As expected, the discussion eventually boiled down to Jordan and James.
While Mahomes answered who he thought was better of every other matchup, he had a two-word response for the Jordan vs. James question: “No comment,” followed by a grin as the video concluded.

NBA and NFL fans had some strong reactions to Mahomes’ answer.
“‘No comment’ means he has a bias. which makes sense because Kobe over Lebron all day,” a fan said.
“Have an opinion Patrick, MJ or LeBron?” someone else added.
Another person wrote: “Thank you, Mahomes, for not giving into the Lebron vs Jordan debate. The less toxicity on social media, the better.”
“My guy knows who the GOAT is,” a fan reacted.
One more fan commented: “Knew when to stop talking.”

Growing up in Texas, Mahomes has stayed true to his roots as a devoted Dallas Mavericks fan.
He has attended numerous games over the years, including sitting court side during their 2024 postseason run to the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics and during their 2022 trip to the Western Conference Finals.
Mahomes was also one of the first professional athletes to react on social media to the shocking trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers last season, posting, “Wait, what?” followed by, “I’m sick [right now].”
