Patrick Mahomes, Wife Brittany Make Historic Announcement

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ game against the Buffalo Bills is easily the most exciting matchup of the week. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns with a 104.9 passer rating during Kansas City’s 29-7 win over the Washington Commanders, knows it won’t be easy to snag a win at Highmark Stadium. “It’ll be a great challenge for us, and they’re loud, and that’s what you want,” Mahomes told reporters of Bills Mafia. “You want to go and be in a hostile environment. That’s what football is when you watch on TV as a kid growing up, [it’s] the environments you want to play in. “And so obviously, they’re not rooting for us, but you get to bond together as a team and get to go into a historic stadium, playing in a great environment.” Fans can expect to see Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, in Orchard Park for the Week 9 matchup. She’s attended every game this season save for the season opener in Brazil. Last week, she watched the Chiefs win at Arrowhead Stadium alongside Taylor Swift, tight end Travis Kelce’s fiancée. While Brittany and Mahomes remain locked in on the NFL season, they’re also keeping a close eye on their NWSL team, the Kansas City Current. Brittany, a former soccer player, is a founding co-owner of the Current, along with owners Chris and Angie Long. Mahomes joined as a co-owner in January 2023. A few days before the Chiefs-Bills showdown, the KC Current made a historic international announcement. The KC Current Will Represent the NWSL at the World Sevens Football Tournament The Mahomes’ investment in the KC Current continues to pay off as they are they are the No. 1 team in the league. Now, they’re taking their talents to an international stage. “The Kansas City Current announced Tuesday the club will represent the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the first-ever North American edition of the World Sevens Football (W7F) Tournament,” the team shared in a statement. “The groundbreaking 7v7 tournament will take place Dec. 5-7, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and will feature top women’s clubs from across the Americas.” In addition to the Current, the San Diego Wave FC, Canada’s AFC Toronto, Mexico’s Club América and Tigres Femenil, Brazil’s Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, and Colombia’s Deportivo Cali Femenino, will compete. “Together, these powerhouse clubs will compete in a fast-paced, global showcase celebrating the elite skill and excitement of women’s football,” the statement noted. The teams will compete for a $5 million prize pool, “one of the largest in women’s football – and a broadcast partnership with DAZN.” While the Current deal with an injury to star forward and reigning MVP, Temwa Chawinga (adductor injury), they broke numerous records this season. In addition to becoming the fastest team to clinch the NWSL Shield, they also became the first team to win 20 league matches in a season and scored the most points in a single season (62 points). Patrick & Brittany Mahomes Continue To Support the KC Current’s Exponential Growth Four years after the KC Current played their first game of the 2021 season, they’ve become the second-most valuable franchise in the NWSL. Despite being the fourth-smallest market team, the Current owns the second-highest valuation of $275 million. After opening CPKC Stadium, the first premier sports venue built primarily for a women’s sports team, Forbes reported that the KC Current generated a league-high $36 million in revenue in 2024.
