The Pathfinder Club, youth ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, marked a significant milestone in 2025—celebrating 75 years of “nurturing the spiritual, social, physical, and leadership growth of young people.”
According to a media release by the organization, the Pathfinder movement was established as a foundation for nurturing character and service, and continues to influence generations of youth through its comprehensive programs.
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, Pathfinder Clubs globally observed World Pathfinder Day, an annual event held on the third Sabbath of September. This year’s celebration was themed “Pathfinders on Purpose,” emphasizing the core values, spirit, and mission of the club. Across various churches and communities, Pathfinders and Adventurers gathered to reflect on their journey, celebrate their achievements, and renew their commitment to purposeful service and personal growth.
In Dominica, the festivities took on a vibrant and community-focused tone, said organizers. The island’s 13 active Pathfinder clubs reportedly participated in outreach activities, visiting neighborhoods, delivering gift baskets, and engaging in service projects aimed at giving back to their communities. The celebrations also included marches and open-air programs in different towns. For example, in Salisbury, clubs from Wesley, Bense, Beryl, and Salisbury united for a colorful march that culminated in an open-air program featuring music, inspirational messages, and the distribution of food baskets to families in need. Similarly, in Roseau, a march involving southern clubs concluded at Tarish Pit with a community gathering.
Over the years, the Pathfinder Club has aimed to play a vital role in supporting young people in developing strong leadership skills, preparing them to serve both locally in Dominica and internationally. As outlined by the club, many former members have advanced to excel in church leadership, community service, and professional fields, exemplifying the club’s lasting impact.
This year’s celebration coincided with Dominica’s National Youth Independence Celebrations, where the Pathfinder movement was recognized with a joint march involving Pathfinders, Master Guides, and Adventurers.
Felicia Royer, the Pathfinder Coordinator, reflected on the milestone, stating, “This milestone reminds us that the Pathfinder Club is more than just uniforms and parades. It is a ministry that has shaped the lives of thousands of young people over the years. We celebrate not only our history, but also the promise of continuing to guide children in building strong character, resilience, and faith.”
Supporting this sentiment, Ps. Sean Shepherd, the National Youth Director, expressed pride in the ongoing efforts to engage youth, saying, “We are proud to invite every child between the ages of 10 to 16, and even older youth who want to grow in leadership and service, to join a Pathfinder Club near you. Pathfinding is about wholesome development, fun, friendship, and preparing to serve God and community. As we celebrate 75 years under the theme ‘Pathfinders on Purpose’, we look forward to many more years of impact in Dominica and around the world.”
The Pathfinder Clubs in Dominica expressed their continued dedication to empowering young people and cultivating a culture of service, faith, leadership, and excellence, continuing a legacy that has positively shaped lives for over seven decades.
