Manchester Airport has issued a date for the latest airline to move its operations over to the new-look Terminal 2. This week Aer Lingus and Aer Lingus Regional moved the remainder of its flights over to Terminal 2, while Luxair is set to switch terminals on Monday, September 22. It comes as the £1.3billion transformation programme of Terminal 2 nears completion. Once finished, 70 per cent of flights were operated from the Terminal, which has doubled in size, while Terminal 1 will close to allow Terminal 3 to expand. Now another airline moving to Terminal 2 has been announced. From Wednesday, September 24, Finnair will operate from Terminal 2. It said: “Following on from our announcement earlier this week regarding Aer Lingus and Luxair, we’re pleased to confirm that Finnair will also be moving to Terminal 2 on 24th September, joining the airlines now operating from our upgraded terminal and enjoying the fantastic new facilities delivered as part of our £1.3bn transformation programme.” It added that passengers will be contacted directly to confirm the details, and staff at the airport will be on hand to support the moves. Information on how to make any changes to lounge bookings and parking can be found on the airport’s website. Passengers will be able to benefit from the new facilities and outlets which have already opened at Terminal 2, including the Lego shop, Joe and The Juice, and Pandora. An extension to the terminal opened in 2021 and the airport is now in the final stages of overhauling the original Terminal 2 building to bring it up to the same standard as the extension, mirroring the modern look and feel. More than 70 per cent of the airport’s passengers will use the new facilities and Terminal 1 is set to close when the project is completed later this year. Work is also underway on a multi-million pound project to revamp Terminal 3, which will be extended thanks to the closure of Terminal 1. There will be 40 per cent more seating, a new extra with more space and facilities, brand new security equipment, and new shops and places to eat and drink, including a brand new sports bar named Sporting Chance.
