Remember Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and Amrish Puri’s 1987 sci-fi superhero action film Mr India? Helmed by Shekhar Kapur, the film was among the biggest hits of that year. From the iconic ‘Mogambo Khush Hua’ dialogue to the hit Sridevi song ‘Hawa Hawai’, Mr India impressed audiences with its gripping storyline, dialogues and songs, and it continues to be one of the most popular Bollywood movies to date. Mr India is considered a turning point in Anil Kapoor’s career, launching him to stardom. Besides him, the film made fortunes for several child actors. Among the many faces, there was one kid who grew up, entered Bollywood and appeared in over 45 films. Hint: He is part of one of India’s beloved adult comedy franchises, set to release its fourth chapter soon. Still not able to guess? Let us tell you that he is none other than Aftab Shivdasani. Born on June 25, 1978, in Mumbai, Aftab appeared in movies like Mr India and Shahenshah as a child actor. While he was in school, he used to appear for auditions for several television commercials, as he loved the camera. He started his career as a baby model for baby food brand, Farex. It was his appearance in a cola commercial that changed his life forever. In an interview with ETimes, he once revealed that director Ram Gopal Varma saw him in the cola ad, which led him to his first leading role in the 1999 film Mast, opposite Urmila Matondkar. During the early and mid-2000s, Aftab was a popular name in showbiz, and he has delivered some splendid performances. Despite his early popularity, he failed to make a successful run at the box office. As per Box Office India, nearly 40 of Aftab’s films have flopped so far. Although he still does make appearances in movies and web series, the actor’s career graph has been towards the declining side. Aftab Shivdasani will now be seen in the fourth instalment of the beloved adult comedy franchise, Masti. The film follows the misadventures of three married men in the UK looking to break free from their monotonous routines, resulting in a string of hilarious situations. Scheduled to release in theatres on November 21, Masti 4 also brings back the OG trio Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, and Vivek Oberoi, alongside Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Elnaaz Norouzi, and Ruhi Singh. The Masti series, which first hit the screens in 2004, redefined adult comedy in Bollywood. It gained popularity for its quirky plotline, following which Grand Masti was released in 2013, and Great Grand Masti hit theatres in 2016.
