One student was taken to a hospital following an altercation in a bathroom at Omaha Central High School Monday afternoon.
The altercation occurred around 1:25 p.m., and the school’s resource officer and staff immediately responded to de-escalate the situation, Principal Dionne Kirksey said in a letter sent to families.
“We take these incidents very seriously and contacted law enforcement and district safety to assist,” the letter said.
One student was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries after the altercation, according to an Omaha Police Department spokesperson.
No weapons were believed to be involved, according to Omaha police.
The school was placed in a hold status for approximately 30 minutes. During a hold, hallways are cleared, students remain in their classrooms and classes continue as normal, Kirksey said.
The Police Department is working with district administrators to investigate the incident.
