“We are turning the development of the hydrocarbon sector in our country into reality. With confidence, we are implementing our strategy to harness our natural wealth for the benefit of all Greek women and men,” stated Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou on Friday in an interview with the public broadcaster ERT, following the signing of four Ministerial Decisions designating the Chevron and HELLENiQ Energy consortia as preferred investors for the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in four offshore areas south of Crete and the Peloponnese. “We are moving forward,” he added, “to finalise the contract in line with the exceptionally fast-paced schedule we have committed to. Our country is steadily and decisively strengthening its energy role in the Eastern Mediterranean.”
