The Tim Allen-led comedy has cast Adlon in a guest role as Gabriel’s (Seann William Scott) opinionated single mother. The episode is scheduled to air Dec. 10. The logline for the episode, titled “Nutcracker,” reads, “This holiday season, the Parkers discover that romance isn’t always a smooth ride as Matt (Allen) and Eve (Jenna Elfman) are on thin ice, Gabe enlists Riley (Kat Dennings) to help Amelie (Carson Fagerbakke) impress his mom (Adlon), and Carter (Maxwell Simkins) seeks help with his ‘promposal.’” Related Stories 'Good Morning America' at 50: Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and Michael Strahan on What Makes the ABC Show Tick Disney's Top Brass Rallies the Troops Amid YouTube TV Blackout Shifting Gears has gotten off to a solid start on ABC in its second season. The Oct. 1 season premiere drew 7.57 million cross-platform viewers over its first seven days; the show is averaging a little under 4 million viewers for its initial airings on the network. Shifting Gears is produced by 20th Television. Allen executive produces with Michelle Nader, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, Rick Messina, John Pasquin, Jim Patterson, Bob Daily and John Amodeo. Dennings is a producer. Adlon reprises her voice role as Bobby in Hulu’s King of the Hill revival, which last week was renewed for two more seasons. She won an Emmy for the role in 2002 and has two lead actress Emmy nominations for her work on FX’s Better Things. Her recent live-action credits include episodes of Hulu’s Mid-Century Modern and History of the World Part II and CBS’ Elsbeth. She is repped by CAA, Vie Entertainment, ID and Felker Toczek.
