Palevas refuge urgently needs homes for 80 dogs

Palevlas Protectora de Animales, a wonderful dog sanctuary near Monda, is facing an urgent crisis as it prepares to close its doors due to the deteriorating health of its dedicated owner.

The sanctuary, which has been a haven for abandoned and mistreated animals since 2008, currently houses 80 dogs, all in desperate need of loving, forever homes.

For many years, Palevlas has provided a safe and free environment for its dogs, allowing them to roam alongside other dogs and cats without the confines of kennels or cages. Each dog is in good health, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and equipped with a pet passport. The sanctuary is not seeking financial contributions, and the only cost would be small fee to a vet to transfer ownership on the pet passport at a local vet is required.

The situation has grown critical, leaving the sanctuary unable to continue operations. AIMS Sanctuary, a supporter of Palevlas, is working tirelessly to rehome as many dogs as possible. “These dogs have already endured abandonment once,” said an AIMS spokesperson. “The thought of them moving to municipal kennels is heartbreaking. They deserve stable, loving homes.”

Triple A in Marbella has taken in some of Palevlas’ dogs but cannot accommodate more, highlighting the urgency of the situation. The sanctuary is currently closed to volunteers and visitors but remains open for adoptions. Those able to offer a home are asked to act quickly.

Palevlas has long been committed to fighting animal cruelty, promoting sterilisation, and educating children about respect and empathy for animals. The sanctuary’s mission has always been to rehabilitate and rehome abandoned animals, providing them with medical care, behavioural training, and a nurturing environment until they find their forever families.
