ISLAMABAD – The federal government has launched a Tax Policy Office to modernize and streamline Pakistan’s tax framework. To aligning it with conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Finance Ministry confirmed the key appointments for the office have finalized. He also confirmed work will commence next week on tax policies for the 2027 fiscal year. The new office will operate separately from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The Tax Policy Office focusing on policy-making but the FBR continues tax collection duties. Naeem Hassan appoints as Director of Business Taxation Fida Mohammad as Director of International Taxation Munir Ahmed as Director of Direct/Indirect Taxation Ijaz Hussain as Director of Personal Taxation. Dr. Memon, currently a member of FBR’s Inland Revenue Policy, will lead efforts to develop policies covering income tax, sales tax, and federal excise duties. The ministry emphasized that the office will finalize all regulations and rules by next week, with the newly appointed directors operating under the Special Professional Pay Scale.
