Pakistan declares Salman Khan 'terrorist' over Balochistan remarks, lists actor under 4th schedule of anti-terrorism act

PTC News Desk: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has found himself at the center of controversy after his recent remarks about Balochistan triggered widespread outrage in Pakistan. According to several reports, the Pakistani government has allegedly placed the actor under the 4th Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act (1997) — a category meant for individuals suspected of links to terrorism.Inclusion under the 4th Schedule allows authorities to closely monitor movements, impose travel restrictions, and initiate legal proceedings if necessary. The reported action follows Salman’s comments at the Joy Forum 2025 in Riyadh, where he joined Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan in a panel discussion on the growing influence of Indian cinema in the Middle East.During the discussion, Salman said, “Right now, if you make a Hindi film and release it here (in Saudi Arabia), it will be a superhit. If you make a Tamil, Telugu, or Malayali film, it will do hundreds of crores in business because so many people from other countries have come here. There are people from Balochistan, there are people from Afghanistan, there are people from Pakistan… everyone is working here.During the discussion, Salman’s reference to “Balochistan and Pakistan” as separate entities reportedly angered officials in Islamabad, who interpreted it as a challenge to the country’s territorial sovereignty.Interestingly, the actor’s remarks have received support from Baloch separatist leaders, who hailed them as a gesture of recognition toward their cause. Mir Yar Baloch, a leading proponent of Baloch independence, thanked the actor, saying his words had “brought joy to six crore Baloch people.”Salman Khan has not yet issued a statement on the matter. Meanwhile, the controversy continues to dominate social media debates, underscoring how a single comment can spark intense cross-border discussions on nationalism, identity, and artistic freedom.
