Paedo who filmed kids in playgrounds housed just metres from three nurseries

A convicted paedophile who secretly filmed y oung children at schools has been placed just a stone’s throw away from three nurseries. Brian Wilkinson, 64, covertly recorded youngsters in school playgrounds, parks and public changing facilities before distributing the vile material to predators worldwide via online chat rooms . The sex offender also amassed 100,000 indecent images of children as young as six months being sexually abused by adults. He was ultimately sentenced to five years behind bars, but it has now come to light that since his release in 2006, the paedophile has been accommodated in a supported living facility dangerously close to several schools . Wilkinson’s residence in Greater Manchester is reportedly surrounded by hundreds of children daily, reports the Mirror . Directly opposite his block in the leafy residential neighbourhood sits a nursery, according to reports. Within walking distance of Wilkinson’s front door are two primary schools, one catering for children as young as three. A brief glance at local maps reveals the predator is also within easy reach of two additional nurseries in the suburban location. When approached by The Sun, Wilkinson declared: “Leave me alone, I’m cured now, that was in the past, that’s over, I’m a cured man now. It happened 10 years ago. I don’t go out anywhere, I just go to the garage, that’s all I ever do.” When questioned about whether he still enjoys filming children in school playgrounds, he responded: “I’ve got no cameras or nothing, I’m not interested in them (children) anymore.” The 64-year-old man, a former volunteer youth worker, was arrested after being spotted filming children in a park. Officers swooped on his home in 2001 and uncovered a horrific hoard of 100,000 indecent images of youngsters. The vile collection reportedly depicted children nude or engaged in sexual acts with adult men. Wilkinson admitted to 41 specimen charges of possessing, creating and distributing indecent photographs of children spanning August 1998 to September 2001, receiving a five-year stretch behind bars. He was also barred from working with children and added to the Sex Offenders’ Register. The local authority that provided Wilkinson with accommodation after his sentence told The Sun: “We take this matter extremely seriously. The safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in our city is our number one priority. In this case, police carried out assessments and removed this individual from the sex offenders register. “This was prior to his move into his current accommodation over four-and-a-half years ago. The individual had been living within the community for a considerable time before then – all of which had been under a risk-managed approach, with consideration to the wider community, as well as his health care needs. “We take extremely seriously the safety of our communities, and it is important to note, and to give the reassurance, that we and the police have not been made aware of any safeguarding concerns with regards to this individual.”
