Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers traveled to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4 NFL action. After losing to the Cleveland Browns in Week 4, the Packers were expected to bounce back strong. That wasn’t the case.
While Green Bay did not lose the game, the team also didn’t win. Instead, the Sunday Night Football matchup ended in a 40-40 tie in overtime.
That game did not feel like a tie for the Packers. It felt like a loss. Green Bay dropped to 2-1-1 on the season after being talked about as a top-tier Super Bowl contender following the first two weeks of the season. Beating the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders was an impressive feat, but two games don’t mean much.

Heading into their bye week, the Packers have some soul searching to do. They have to figure out a way to get back on track with a matchup at home against the Cincinnati Bengals next on their schedule.
Head coach Matt LaFleur of the Green Bay Packers reacts against the Dallas Cowboys during the second quarter in the game at AT&T Stadium on September 28, 2025 in Arlington, Texas.
Following the tie against the Cowboys, one clear glaring issue needs to be addressed by Green Bay. The offense line has to get better. Injuries have ravaged the line, with Aaron Banks, Zach Tom, and Anthony Belton also missing the game against Dallas.
With that being said, the Packers are being urged to consider a reunion with former superstar tackle David Bakhtiari.
Granted, the calls for Green Bay to sign Bakhtiari might be more of a joke than serious. He dealt with bad injury issues that ended his career prematurely and has shown no serious interest in getting back into playing football.
Easton Butler of Packer Report was one of those on social media calling for the Packers to bring Bakhtiari home.
“Hey @DavidBakhtiari , how’re you doing outside of football? Do you have any plans to return and play, or are you “retired”?” he wrote on X.
Matt Schneidman of The Athletic actually tagged Bakhtiari to ask about his interest in playing for Green Bay again.
“Let’s ask @DavidBakhtiari,” Schneidman wrote.

More than likely, Bakhtiari isn’t walking through the door to help save the Packers’ offensive line. It would be a dream for the fans, who absolutely love him during his time in Green Bay. Unfortunately, the injuries he dealt with seem to have caused him to walk away from the game.
However, it can’t be completely ruled out. If he’s feeling the itch to play football again, returning to the Packers might very well be the opportunity that makes him pull the trigger.
