Packers Receive Massive Injury News on Top Offensive Weapon

Entering their bye week, the Green Bay Packers have played back-to-back disappointing games. They lost to the Cleveland Browns in Week 3 and backed that up with a Week 4 tie against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

While the last two games before the break haven’t been good, the Packers are still one of the most talented teams in football. Not only are they one of the most talented teams, they have also been forced to play without some of their top players.

One of those players who has been out and recovering from an injury is wide receiver Christian Watson. Of course, Watson tore his ACL last season against the Chicago Bears late in the season. He has been working hard to get back on the field.

Now, a new update has been shared about Watson’s status heading into the Week 4 bye.

As shared by ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, head coach Matt LaFleur gave a positive update regarding Watson. It sounds like he could have his practice window opened following the bye week ahead of Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Packers coach Matt LaFleur on whether they will open Christian Watson’s practice window after the bye: ‘That’s been in discussion,’” Demovsky shared on X. “Added that they still have some time to make a decision before they return to practice next week.”

Getting Watson back on the field would be huge for the Green Bay offense. Watson is the team’s best deep threat and has had great chemistry with quarterback Jordan Love on deep throws down the field.

Last season, Watson played in 15 regular season games before going down with his knee injury. He caught 29 passes for 620 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers average out to an impressive 21.4 yards per reception.

Earlier this year, the Packers decided to extend Watson’s contract for the 2026 season. They clearly still view him as a key piece of their offense moving forward. Hopefully, he’ll be able to make a major impact this season for Green Bay.

More updates are sure to come out about Watson over the next week or so. If he’s able to get back on the field in the next couple of weeks, the Packers’ offense will become much more dynamic and dangerous.
