A storm system moving through central Pennsylvania today is bringing moderate to heavy rain with potential for gusty winds and even isolated tornadoes. Wind gusts exceeding 40 mph are expected tonight into Friday. The storm is sending waves of rain northward across the state this morning, with the heaviest precipitation expected during the middle of the day. Southeastern counties face the greatest severe weather threat, with a chance of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and possibly an isolated tornado. The high temperature in the Harrisburg area today is supposed to be in the mid-60s. The region is expected to get up to 2″ of rain. As the storm moves northeast this evening, winds will shift to the west and intensify overnight. Widespread gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected late tonight through Friday, with some areas potentially seeing gusts approaching 50 mph. Trick-or-treating is scheduled in the Harrisburg region the next three evenings, Thursday through Saturday. Municipalities set their own schedules, some changing because of the forecast. Friday will be significantly cooler with temperatures reaching the mid-40s in northern and southwestern regions, while southeastern areas may climb to the mid-50s.
