A TikTok video has gone viral showing an owner’s surprise after her two pregnant cats gave birth a week apart, resulting in far more than she expected. An article from PetMD reported that most house cats have about three to six kittens per litter, with the average being four. But several factors can determine a litter size, including genetics, age, breed or overall health. Younger felines tend to have smaller litters. Cat breeds such as Orientals, Burmese, Abyssinian, Persian and Siamese often have larger litters. The owner, who is known on TikTok as @veronica.grig, shared in an October 16 video that she knew the cat was pregnant, but she expected there to be three kittens. Instead, she learned that her house had turned into a “daycare” with 15 kittens running around from two litters born a week apart. The other mother was off to the side, taking a break from the new chaos in the household. The two are taking turns from managing endless babies. For a moment, the kitties stayed in the bed, snuggling with one of the mothers. And while the kittens are only a week apart, TikTok users quickly pointed out the difference in their sizes. A kitten size chart from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals showed how fast kitties can grow within a week. Kittens weigh, on average, about 100 grams on their first day. By day eight, they weigh between 149 to 205 grams. Another difference between week one and two is a kitty’s eyes. Their eyes are usually closed for the first seven days and begin to open during the second week. Others worried that the kittens would be receiving enough food from the mama cats, but the owner wrote in the comment section that between the two of them, they’ve been “taken care of.” TikTok Reacts The TikTok video reached over 585,500 views, 90,800 likes and 1,170 comments as of Wednesday, with people obsessing over the owner’s now kitty heaven. “Birthed a whole city,” wrote one viewer.
