Tourism Minister R. Rajendran, on Saturday (September 20, 2025), said that a total of 9,552 people were benefited from the special medical camps conducted under the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme in the district.
The Minister inspected the medical camp held at a private school at Masinaickenpatti in Ayothiyapattinam Taluk and distributed differently-abled identity cards to the beneficiaries.
Speaking to the reporters, the Minister said that in Salem, six medical camps were conducted under the scheme and a total of 9,552 people (5,227 women and 4,325 men) were benefited. Blood test was taken for 7,427 people, EGC examinations for 5,703 people, ultrasound scan for 1,040 people, echo screenings for 1,143 people and X-ray for 787 people.
Stating that medical experts from 17 medical departments provide their services, the Minister added that all examinations, including ECG and blood tests, are conducted for free.
Rajya Sabha MP S.R. Sivalingam, District Collector R. Brindha Devi, Joint Director (Medical Services) S.P. Nandhini, District health officers Soundammal and Yoganand and officials were present during the inspection.
