Over 53,000 first-time tax offenders in Uzbekistan escape $13.9mn in fines - Daryo.uz

More than 53,000 business entities in Uzbekistan have been exempted from administrative fines totaling UZS 171.6bn ($13.9mn), the State Tax Committee reported.

The exemptions were granted under a policy aimed at supporting taxpayers who are unable to meet reporting deadlines for various reasons. According to the Committee, failure to submit tax reports on time is normally considered an offense and can result in substantial fines in accordance with the Code of Administrative Responsibility.

However, officials of a business entity who commit a first-time offense can avoid penalties if they voluntarily correct the violation within 30 days of discovery. In such cases, they receive a warning instead of a fine.

As of September 22, 2025:

53,478 entities received warnings instead of fines, as their first-time violations were fully resolved within 30 days.UZS 171.6bn ($13.9mn) in potential fines were thus waived and remain with the taxpayers.

Currently, another 6,738 businesses have the opportunity to avoid fines by submitting overdue tax returns, correcting first-time offenses, and resolving them within 30 days.

For reference, failure to submit a tax report on time normally carries a fine equal to 10 times the minimum wage (UZS 4.1mn ($332)) per report.
