At least 1500 players are expected to take part in the 8th edition of the East African Badminton Challenge at the Lugogo Indoor Arena 16th to 19th October 2025) in Kampala, Uganda.
This championship was officially launched on Thursday, 18th September 2025 at the City tyres head offices in industrial area along 6th Street in Kampala.
The players will come from host country Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan in the different age categories of U-10,U-13, U-15 and U-19 for the singles, doubles and mixed doubles in either gender.
Feng Wang -President of Linglong Group was one of the high profile personalities at this launch.
Others included Hajji Omar Mandela, the chairman of Mandela Group, Mohamed Vaheed,Treasurer of the Indian Association & Chairman of the Indian Sports Forum,Mr. Ammethutheen Kathiri , Chairman of Tamil Sangam Uganda, Saleem Yemmes – Chairman of Ugasewa, Simon Mugabi, CEO of Uganda Badminton Association and Mr. Venkatesh Kumar, CEO of Mandela Group, among others.
This championship is sponsored by the Linglong Tyres and organized by the Mandela group of companies in conjunction with the Uganda badminton association and Indian Association Uganda.
Clubs, university, corporate teams and nations’ categories will also take part alongside the veterans and professionals.
We are excitement to officially unveiled this year East Africa city tyres badminton tournament and reaffirming our commitment to promoting sports, strengthening regional ties and inspiring the next generation of badminton players across East Africa.

This tournament is part of Mandela Group’s CSR initiative, aimed at developing youth through sports in East Africa.

This competition portrays the future of badminton in the country and through the support of City Tyres, Uganda is number one on Africa. We want to make sure Badminton grows. This competition is going to give many players a lot of exposure. This is one of the special events in Uganda Badminton, it always brings a lot of participants at youth, Adults and Co-operates competing in team and Individual events. Following the launch, Registration switched to being done online registration being brought in the contention. With this launch the registration has immediately started with a provision of scanning our QR code to register.
