The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has summoned the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, for interrogation following his public assertion that he declined a GH¢4 million bribe purportedly offered to halt the implementation of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy. Mr. Kotey disclosed in a recent media interview that certain influential individuals attempted to persuade him to abandon the initiative, which aims to address vehicle-related fraud and improve road safety. In response, the OSP has confirmed that it is seeking additional information from the DVLA chief to substantiate the allegation and identify those allegedly involved in the bribery attempt. Meanwhile, in a different case, the OSP has initiated an investigation into a current member of the Council of State regarding suspected corruption and corruption-related offences associated with gold trading. Sources close to the OSP suggest that the investigation centers on allegations that the Council member allegedly exploited his position to influence the issuance of a gold license to a company with which he has undisclosed business interests.
