Oscar-winning comedienne Whoopi Goldberg shows her sense of humor is long-dead as she scolds The View audience for seeing the funny side of politics

Academy Award-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg criticized members of The View’s audience on Thursday after they appeared to relish in Donald Trump and California Governor Gavin Newsom’s ongoing feud on social media.

Goldberg, 69, solidified her status as an A-list comedienne in the 90’s, taking home Oscar gold for her comedic role in Ghost then starring as a wisecracking nun in the cult-comedy-classic Sister Act.

However, more than three decades later, it seems the Rat Race star needs to re-find her funny bone.

She found no humor in Trump and Newsom’s back-and-forths, some of which she showed off on-air.

‘So politics has been reduced to internet trolling and targeted retribution,’ Goldberg said to laugher from the crowd.

‘You know, it’s cute, maybe it’s funny, but, you know – people got stuff to do. People got families to feed.

‘They don’t have time for this bullsh*t – this stuff that they are doing,’ the comedienne continued.

Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin agreed, after Newsom on Wednesday posted an AI-altered image of the president reimagined as Marie Antoinette.

‘TRUMP “MARIE ANTOINETTE” SAYS, “NO HEALTH CARE FOR YOU PEASANTS, BUT A BALLROOM FOR THE QUEEN!”’ an accompanying caption read.

Trump shared an AI-edited video of Newsom in a red ‘Trump 2028 hat’ in September – a nod to the Golden State governor’s repeated warnings that the conservative could run for a third term.

‘Our movie making business has been stolen from the United States of America, by other Countries, just like stealing “candy from a baby,”’ Trump wrote on Monday while announcing an 100 percent tariff on films made outside of the US.

‘California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit!’

A few days before, Trump complained that ‘Newscum’ was on the verge of approving another low-income housing project in LA.

‘How unfair is that to the people that have suffered so much!’ Trump wrote.

The two have been trading barbs for weeks.

Over the summer, Newsom adopted Trump’s trademark typing style and use of AIimages after months of attempting to find common ground with the Republican.

‘Where is Donald Trump?? Hiding from his shutdown. Pathetic,’ Newsom wrote on Wednesday.

‘Donald Trump just shut down the government,’ he wrote a few hours earlier, after the midnight deadline to find a resolution came and went.

‘THE TRUMP SHUTDOWN IS HERE! HEALTH CARE FOR BABIES, MOMS & GRANDMAS HELD HOSTAGE BY A VERY WEAK MAN WHO CAN’T EVEN DO STAIRS,’ Newsom continued.

Later in the day, the Democrat shared a real video – edited in the style of a popular meme – that panned Trump for previously saying the president should be to blame in the event of a government shutdown.

On Tuesday, Newsom posted an unflattering photo of Trump from a campaign stop at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s after his secretary of state told the US military’s most senior officers he is fed-up with ‘fat generals and admirals’.

A second post, this one including an AI-generated photo of Trump holding two McDonald’s Big Mac cheeseburgers while drones delivered more bags to the president, offered a stinging caption.

‘IT’S COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE TO SEE A FAT COMMANDER IN CHIEF IN THE HALLS OF THE WHITE HOUSE!’ the post read.

‘I guess the Commander in Chief needs to go!’ Newsom also wrote.

Other posts from the progressive since have included several depicting Vance as one of Despicable Me’s ‘Minions’ and other blaming Trump for the shutdown that began Wednesday.

‘I feel like the kindergartners are running the high school,’ Behar said the following morning, after Goldberg played back a clip of Vance defending a separate AI-altered post from the president.

‘Yeah, yeah. That’s how I feel,’ Hostin added. ‘Forty-seven percent of Americans disagree with Trump. They don’t approve of how he’s handling things and I think we need to, though, go back to the President Obama,’ she continued, before quoting the 44th president.

‘When he… said, “There’s not a liberal America and a conservative America. There is the United States of America.”‘

The US government began the shutdown process Wednesday morning, after failing to draft a bill both parties agreed on.
