Orihuela Moves Ahead with €72k City Centre Christmas Market

Orihuela is stepping up its preparations for Christmas 2025 with the launch of two major public tenders—one for the festive advertising campaign and another for the traditional Christmas market. Both contracts were published on October 23 on the Public Sector Procurement Platform and will remain open for submissions until November 6. The Christmas advertising campaign contract has a base budget of €56,829 (VAT included) and an estimated value of €46,966. It is divided into three lots covering the creation of the campaign’s visual identity, printing of materials, and media distribution. The selected contractor will design the official image and slogan for Orihuela’s Christmas season and produce posters, brochures, billboards, promotional videos, and digital content for social media. They will also manage advertising on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Google Ads, working alongside the Department of Communications to ensure consistent messaging and format approval. The second contract concerns the organization of the Christmas market, which will take place from December 5 to 24 in Plaza de la Centuria Romana. With a total budget of €72,282.98 (VAT included), the goal is to support local businesses and attract visitors to one of Orihuela’s busiest shopping areas. The market will feature 20 decorated wooden stalls, a 10-meter Christmas tree, illuminated decorative structures, a photo booth, a stage for children’s shows and workshops, and a family entertainment zone with daily activities. Additional features include LED lighting, sound equipment, private security, portable restrooms, and a full program of 26 Christmas workshops and 30 performances. At least 40% of vendors must be based in Orihuela to support local commerce. These new tenders complement others already issued for the wider festive programme, including activities and the traditional Three Kings Parade. In total, Orihuela City Council plans to invest over €130,000 to boost local trade, tourism, and festive spirit across the city this Christmas season.
