The Orihuela City Council’s Youth Department has unveiled its Halloween programme for this year, promising an evening filled with workshops, music, parades, and activities for children and families. The events will take place on Friday, October 31, in both central Orihuela and Orihuela Costa, offering residents and visitors a chance to enjoy a festive and family-friendly celebration. Youth Councillor Anabel García said Halloween has become “one of the most anticipated events for the children and families of our municipality,” highlighting the council’s commitment to creating inclusive, creative spaces for young people. Lineup of Activities The Halloween celebration runs from 6pm to 9pm in both Orihuela centre and Orihuela Costa. Activities will include children’s workshops, face painting, crafts, and slime making. The event features a grand Halloween parade starting at 8pm from Glorieta Gabriel Miró, accompanied by local music and dance groups. Also, a themed train will tour Orihuela’s streets during the event, departing from the same location. Orihuela Costa’s celebrations will take place around Capricornio and Escorpiones streets, also featuring inflatables, a batucada band, and sweet treats. Full details are available via the Orihuela City Council website. The Growth of Community-Based Events in Spain The Halloween event reflects the growing popularity of community-based celebrations in Spain, where local councils increasingly promote creative outdoor activities for families. By hosting events simultaneously in both the city and the coastal area, Orihuela aims to ensure accessibility for all residents and encourage cross-community participation. Such public initiatives also help strengthen the social fabric of the municipality, providing safe entertainment options for children while supporting local artists, dance troupes, and youth associations. Attendance and Admission Families are encouraged to attend in costume and participate in the workshops and parades. Admission to all activities is free of charge, though access to certain games like laser tag will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents should arrive early to secure a place for popular attractions such as inflatables or train rides. Visitors are also reminded that parking may be limited near Glorieta Gabriel Miró and Escorpiones Street during the event hours, so using public transport is advised. What’s Next Future workshops and cultural activities are expected to be announced later this autumn by the Ayuntamiento de Orihuela.
