School superintendents and finance officers are pressing the state Legislature to consider tapping a $1 billion rainy day fund earmarked for education if a widely anticipated dip in state revenue materializes in upcoming months. Using emergency educational reserve funds would shield school districts from having to make immediate cuts to schools and programming that would otherwise land next spring, Krista Parent, the executive director of the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators, said Wednesday during a call with reporters.
