Opposition Leader Appoints New Senate Team
The new OBA Leader has appointed Tarik Smith and Dion Smith to the Senate, replacing Marcus Jones and Maurice Foley.
A spokesperson said, “Opposition Leader, the Hon Robert King, is pleased to extend congratulations to Victoria Cunningham, Tarik Smith, and Dion Smith, whom he has appointed to the Senate.
“Each brings valuable experience, vision, and a strong dedication to public service. Together, they will advance the OBA’s priorities: transparency, accountability, economic opportunity, and ensuring that government works for all Bermudians.
“Senator Victoria Cunningham will serve as Opposition Senate Leader with responsibility for Finance, Education, Health and Legal Affairs.
“Senator Tarik Smith will have responsibility for Youth, Social Development and Seniors, National Security, Tourism, Transport, Culture and Sports and Economy and Labour.
“Senator Dion Smith will have responsibility for Public Works and Environment, Housing and Municipalities, Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation and Home Affairs.
“All three Senators have committed themselves to serve with integrity and independence, engaging constructively on issues that matter most – economic growth, job creation, public safety, education, and healthcare – while always putting Bermudians first.
“Mr King also extends his sincere thanks to outgoing Senators Marcus Jones and Maurice Foley for their service.
“The Opposition affirms its readiness to work in the Senate to bring forward solutions and create a better Bermuda for all residents. We urge all stakeholders to join us in ensuring that the Senate is a place of robust debate, effective oversight, and meaningful progress.”
