OPINION McNinch: Dreaming of Trump

To my dear readers and the fake online trolls who think they matter, I have a theory that many people dream about President Donald Trump. While many may not want to admit this, I genuinely believe this is true. After winning the election last year, Trump has worked actively to put America’s house back into order. On the domestic front, Trump repealed the really terrible executive orders Joe Biden and his autopen passed. While I will not list all of these 209 orders to date, on his first day in office he passed many good changes. On his first day in office, he signed 14 orders that made an immediate impact. These included restricting the weaponization of the federal government, over 69 Biden executive orders and many other memos from the enfeebled Biden administration were repealed, overreaches in federal censorship was addressed, there were orders to promote American first, end DEI, address election concerns, increase Alaska resource opportunities, bolster U.S. energy policy, withdrawal from the Marxist dominated World Health Organization, declaring an energy emergency, designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations, establishing DOGE, addressing illegal migration, making U.S. citizenship matter, protecting against terrorism and addressing international environmental agreements. These changes were sweeping and made on the very first day. If you love America and value your U.S. citizenship, these orders were a dream come true! God Bless Guam and God Bless America! Good dreams do come true! On the other hand, if you disagree with most of these changes, Trump’s first day was a nightmare. If that is the case, I hope you wake up soon. Woke can go both ways. On the international front, Trump’s efforts so far have been truly remarkable. He has constantly asserted peace and sought to end conflicts on all fronts, no pun intended. Instead of talking in diplomatic abstractions, Trump made his intentions clear to Russia and Ukraine. He wanted the dying to stop. In other areas, the Trump administration has used a new form of diplomacy that is actually both refreshing and playful. When Trump formally announced the peace with Israel, world leaders scrambled to be in the photo shot and press conference in Egypt. At one point in the meeting, Trump asked where is the UK? He called up UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to stand with him. After a brief handshake, Trump turned to continue his remarks and Starmer skulked back to the crowd. The United States is very concerned about a number of things going on in Great Britain. Vice President JD Vance expressed deep concerns about how the country is suppressing basic free speech. Trump was sending the UK government a message: We can do a lot if we work toward good goals. The UK is a mess right now. It is refreshing that the U.S. has returned to peace through strength and determination. This is also a dream come true and a nightmare for the blue hair Marxist zombie detractors. In the last few months, there have been rumors about Trump wanting to seek a third term. While this is not impossible, I believe the president is just yanking the chain of the rabid political zombies. In a nutshell, the 22nd Amendment says a person cannot get elected to a third term as president. The 12th Amendment says “no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.” Trump might be able to run as vice president on a Vance ticket. They win, then Vance would step down to let Trump continue. One option would also be to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow more than two terms. While we do not talk about it today, FDR was a four-term president and he died at just 63 years old. Perhaps the 22nd Amendment was just a rash overreaction to concerns about health. While George Washington served just two terms, he died at just 67, less than two years after leaving office. There are likely good arguments to repeal the 22nd Amendment. There is actually a simple way to give Trump a third term. VP Vance can run with an agreeable running mate. After inauguration, that person resigns and Trump is selected as VP. Then Vance resigns and Trump is sworn in for a third term. Or Vance and his running mate could appeal directly to the Electoral College to elect Trump. While it is easy to forget, the members of the Electoral College can essentially pick whomever they want to be president. We do not directly elect these offices. We have assigned this duty to an elite group. As I said at the beginning of this column, many people dream about Trump. For me, I would love to see Trump get a third term because he has brought a lot of stability and positive vision to the United States. The Marxist zombies are also scared to death of him. For some, Trump represents a great dream. For others, he is likely a nightmare. Regardless, everyone can dream on!
