I have seen online contempt for the DeKalb County Board of Education, particularly regarding members who were on the board when Devon Horton was hired as superintendent in 2023. I agree that the school board needs to accept responsibility for a mistake, but not for hiring Horton. It’s for neglecting to remind the public why he was hired in the first place. Back in 2023, DeKalb was not a place superintendents wanted to work.
