Coláiste Muire Máthair is situated on over 20 acres close to Galway city centre. The college is a proud academic institution, producing some of the highest Leaving Certificate results in the county as well as some of the highest performing sports teams in the country.

The first steps taken under the historical wrought iron archway are the initial steps on a journey of learning, friendships, and personal development. The dedicated, highly trained and experienced staff present an extensive and well-rounded curriculum to all students. That curriculum is the most extensive one in Galway city, encompassing hands-on practical and highly academic subjects, a variety of modern languages and science subjects, business, computing and the arts. Furthermore, the innovative Learning Support Department caters for the additional needs of all students, allowing them to access the curriculum in a way that works for them.
The school is fortunate to have a wonderful student body, who are supportive of each other’s learning and kind to each other in times of need. It is the students that remind the staff every day just how important their role as educators is, and that they truly are shaping the citizens of the future – and being shaped by them.
The cabinets at Coláiste Muire Máthair are full of awards and trophies for sports, for sciences, for art and drama. The walls are covered in photographs, commendations and celebrations.
