Only Murders in the Building season 6 heads for London after being greenlit

Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, Only Murders in the Building season 6 was officially announced on October 28, 2025, with it expected to premiere on Hulu in 2026. No exact release date has been revealed as of yet, but season 6 of the series was announced on the same day as the season 5 finale aired. That came alongside a shocking cliffhanger and the fact that season 6 will see the OMITB crew head to London as they investigate a brand-new murder and mysterious death. The series will continue to follow Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) as the trio investigate a new mystery in London.Their true-crime adventures have already taken the unlikely trio to California, but London represents a brand-new challenge for the podcasters, especially after the season 5 finale. The move to London marks the show’s first international shift, and Only Murders in the Building season 6 is expected to continue on Hulu with a standard ten-episode weekly release.Disclaimer: The following article contains spoilers from Only Murders in the Building season 5. That happens to be Tina Fey’s Cinda Canning, who is shown dying at Arconia's front gate shortly after the trio listens to her latest podcast. It fuels their true-crime engines and sends the podcasting trio to London to discover why their rival and fellow podcaster was killed. Not only that, but given that the trio were listening to Canning’s latest podcast about a woman who killed a royal descendant, season 6 will likely give some focus to that as well. This marks a big departure for the show, as Only Murders in the Building season 6 will take place entirely in London. That was confirmed by co-creator John Hoffman, who revealed in an interview with The Wrap that he’s very excited for viewers to see what they have in store.“There will be all sorts of connectors. We will take our storytelling and steep it into this new culture and our trio will be fish in new waters,” Hoffman said. The co-creator also explained that it felt right for Only Murders in the Building season 6 to take place in London, as it was where murder mysteries were practically invented. However, Hoffman does believe there will be a culture clash and more, which has only added to the excitement in the writer’s room.“It felt really right and exciting to go to the place where the cozy murder mystery was invented and bring them there and watch a bit of a culture clash, or a deepening of an understanding of the kinds of storytelling that has been a part of the fabric of that world matched up with our novice true crime podcasters telling stories in a completely more modern way. All that felt like great fodder and you feel the energy in the writer’s room that way, without doubt,” he added. What will Only Murders in the Building season 6 be about?Celebrity Sightings In New York City - April 10, 2025 (Image via Getty)As mentioned above, Only Murders in the Building season 6 will take the podcasting trio to London as they attempt to solve the mystery behind Cinda Canning’s death. She died clutching the Arconia’s gates and ignites a fire under the podcasting trio, who will likely attempt to solve her mysterious death in season 6 of the Hulu series. However, beyond that, not a lot of information has been released about the next season, as Only Murders in the Building season 6 was only announced a few days ago, after the season 5 finale. Co-creator John Hoffman, in an interview with Deadline, revealed that he was excited to see what the writer’s room can create, as sending the trio to London opens up a lot of avenues.“After that three-month jump in the episode, it’s always that vacuum of like for a trio looking at, you know, what now? What next? Where do we go? And all of that,” Hoffman said.He also admitted that the three-month time-skip opened up a lot of roads for the characters before they picked Cinda Canning and London.“The character of Cinda started everything, so we’re going back to the beginning. So the nature of what she’s doing, what she is doing over in England, doing this thing now, why? I got to know more about it, and it’s an opportunity to tease something that opens up a whole new mystery in the home of the cozy murder mystery, which felt very exciting,” he added.Even Selena Gomez admitted to being excited, in a story she posted on Instagram, and thanked the fans, telling them that the crew, including Martin Short and Steve Martin, are grateful for the support.“Well, looks like our fam is going to London y'all. I want to thank our community and fans of @onlymurdershulu for allowing us to even have a season 6! We are eternally grateful we can bring any of you any sort of joy. My deepest gratitude from Steve, Marty and myself,” she wrote.Interested viewers can watch Only Murders in the Building season 5 on Hulu.
