Only Connect viewers called out a glaring problem with a TV and film question that was asked on Monday’s episode – but can you spot the ‘error’ that sparked complaints?
The most recent instalment of the BBC show, hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell, saw the 5ks take on the Grapevines.
The programme follows two teams as they try and ‘find the connection between seemingly unrelated clues,’ according to IMDB.
Shortly into the episode, Fiona Titcombe from the 5ks picked The Horned Viper and Victoria asked: ‘Okay. What comes fourth in this sequence? Here is the first…’
They were then given the clue of Charlie’s Angels.
Team member James Haughton said: ‘Charlie’s Angels. So there were three of them.’

‘There were three!’ Fiona added.
James asked for the next clue and it was Girls, to which he said: ‘So four girls. So there were four lead characters there, in Girls?’
Team member Thomas Carey added: ‘So, like, Friends, I guess, because there’s six of them…’
James said: ‘Yeah I guess that works. Could be a show with six women as the main characters.’
‘Well, I mean, if you can think of it,’ Thomas replied.
James said: ‘Yeah Friends works. Girls refers to four. Yeah we’ll go with that.’
He then pressed the buzzer and told Victoria: ‘We will go with Friends because the show’s title refers to six people.’
Victoria told them: ‘That is an acceptable answer. Let’s bring up al the clues, and tell me what the sequence is.

Shortly into the episode, Fiona Titcombe from the 5ks picked The Horned Viper and Victoria asked: ‘OK. What comes fourth in this sequence? Here is the first…’

The team decided to go with Girls, Thunderbirds and Friends as their answers
James explained: ‘So Charlie’s Angels, there’s three titular characters, Girls there’s four titular characters.
‘And yeah, Thunderbirds, five, so we’re just going up in size.’
Victoria said: ‘That’s right. I can imagine some people already sharpening the pen to write in “Well what about Charlie? That would make four, wouldn’t it?”
‘But the Angels… there were three. And four girls in the Lena Dunham show.
‘Thunderbirds, obviously. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5… and who were the pilots?’
A confident James replied: ‘Scott, Virgil, Alan, Gordon and John?’
Many rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share that they didn’t really agree with their answer of Thunderbirds – and pointed out why it doesn’t really work.

‘I think Thunderbirds is a bit tenuous. They had more title characters really. #OnlyConnect.’
And who did the Thunderbirds pilots get their names from?’

It comes after Only Connect viewers were left seriously distracted by one of the contestant’s outfits on a recent episode which saw the Metrophiles take on the Grapevines.
One player, named Pam Cooke, got fans talking about her chosen attire for the programme.
The IT programme manager opted for a fuchsia pink blazer, matching blouse and a stunning gold and pink jewel necklace.
If that wasn’t enough of the same colour, she rocked bright pink hair and a matching lip.
But those watching at home flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their confusion over the outfit.
‘Surprised the costume team allowed that pink suit against that background #onlyconnect.’
‘Jeez Has something gone wrong with my colour balance??’
‘I find the outfits on this show to be so over the top sometimes and it’s a bit distracting. They should have a wardrobe policy or something? #onlyconnect.’
‘Giving me a headache – too much!’
Only Connect airs on BBC Two and is available to stream on iPlayer.
