Ahead of the global debut of the OnePlus 15 later this month, OnePlus has unveiled its new “Gaming Technology” which uses three tentpoles to improve on Android gaming. OnePlus devices have arguably been among the best gaming smartphones for some time now, in part due to the raw power they tend to offer, but also with the help of software enhancements, and OnePlus is not doubling down on the latter. The so-called “OnePlus Gaming Technology” consists of three things – “Gaming Core,” “Performance Tri-Chip,” and “FPS Max.” Starting with the “Gaming Core,” OnePlus explains that this is “chip-level technology” operating at the “foundational level of Android.” It improves on gaming performance by decreasing CPU load and power consumption of other tasks when games are active. OnePlus says this will “deliver industry-leading per-frame power consumption control while maintaining a consistently stable 120fps experience in popular games.” Advertisement - scroll for more content Meanwhile, the “OP Performance Tri-Chip” is a hardware trio consisting of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset in the OnePlus 15, a dedicated “Touch Response Chip” that enables a 330Hz touch response rate, and “Wi-Fi Chip G2” which OnePlus says is “equipped with advanced RF modules and enhanced algorithms including SmartLink” to improve network connectivity when signal is weak. Finally, “OP FPS Max” takes advantage of the OnePlus 15’s 165Hz display and works to ensure “true native 165fps support” in the software. OnePlus adds that it will work on “expanding both game support and industry partnerships.” All of this will debut on the OnePlus 15, due to hit the global market on November 15.
