One of Baton Rouge's two Outback Steakhouses has closed

The Outback Steakhouse on Jones Creek Boulevard in Baton Rouge has closed its doors, wrapping up its final day of service Sunday. Located at 5280 Jones Creek Road, the Outback Steakhouse took down its sign after 24 years of operation, according to company spokesperson Elizabeth Daly. The Tampa-Florida-based Bloomin' Brands chain restaurant has about 670 locations in the United States and is known for its Australian-inspired flair, steaks and Bloomin' Onions. Bloomin' Brands also provides management team and infrastructure support to other well-known restaurant chains, including Bonefish Grill, Carrabba's and Fleming's. "Closing a restaurant is never easy," Daly said in a statement to The Advocate. "This was a business decision that is not a reflection of the management or staff." Daly said some of the location's employees will have the opportunity to transfer to other locations, and all will receive a transition bonus. Baton Rouge has one remaining location at 2415 S. Acadian Thruway, and Gonzales has a spot on South Veterans Boulevard, part of the 13 total locations in Louisiana. "We appreciate the community’s support over the past 24 years," Daly said, "and hope to see them at our Acadian and Gonzales restaurants."
