'One in a million' - Tributes flow for 'true gentleman' who died in tragic workplace accident

Tributes have poured in for a “true gentleman” who was “one in a million” who tragically died after a workplace accident in Tipperary . Neil Barry, aged in his 60s, sadly passed away on Monday following a workplace accident at a premises in Fethard, Tipperary at around 5pm. His body was removed to Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. A post on RIP.ie reads: “Remembered by his loving children Amy, Rebekah, Robert and their mother Ancilla. He was a loving son of Patricia and the late Ned and a dear brother of Caroline, Kevin and Raymond. “Sadly mourned by his heartbroken in-laws, nephews, nieces and relatives. He will be sorely missed by his best friend Don and by his close companion Happy and her two daughters Sasha and Kyla.” Barry will lay in repose at Barry Bros. Funeral Home, Hazelwood, Glanmire on Thursday, October 2. from 5pm to 6pm. Requiem mass will take place on Friday, October 3, in St Joseph’s Church, Glenville at 3.30pm. Funeral afterwards to the Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy, Cork . Tributes have poured for Neil from far and wide ahead of his funeral, with many praising him as a “true gentleman”. One mourner penned: “We were so sad to hear of Neil’s passing and condolences to all his family and friends. He was a true gentleman and always a pleasure to meet up with. He will be missed by all that knew him. May he rest in peace.” A former colleague added: “Sincere condolences to all the Barry Family. Neil was one in a million, all the years we worked together he was a true gentleman and he will be sadly missed. Rest in peace Neil.” Another wrote: “Our deepest sympathies to all of Neil’s family and friends. A true gentleman who will be sadly missed in Cashel.” A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services responded to a fatal workplace accident at a premises in Fethard, Co. Tipperary shortly before 5pm, Monday 29 September. “A male in his 60s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was removed to Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. “The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified and will conduct its own investigation. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.” The Health and Safety Authority confirmed that an investigation has been launched following the fatal incident. A spokesperson said: “The Health and Safety Authority is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation.
