A tragic incident unfolded Saturday evening in the central Las Vegas valley as a fire ravaged an apartment, claiming one life. As reported by News 3 LV, the Clark County Fire Department was called to the 1400 block of Vegas Valley Drive at approximately 7 p.m. to attend to the blaze. Officials stated that upon arrival, firefighters were greeted by flames billowing from a second-floor unit of the apartment complex. Despite the rapid response by 39 personnel and a robust offensive tactic, arriving from the scene, with crews declaring knockdown at 7:10 p.m., according to the Clark County Fire Department. Inside the apartment, which is believed to be the fire's point of origin, firefighters discovered one person who was subsequently confirmed as deceased. Identified as the site of the tragedy, the 1400 block of E Vegas Valley Drive was closed in both directions from Casa Vegas Drive to La Canada Street, further details were shared by 8 News Now. No other injuries have been reported, and assistance is being provided to four people and one dog who have been displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross is reportedly working to support the affected family. Structural damages from the incident are currently estimated at around $50,000, the fire department noted.
