Omaha World-Herald writers Evan Bland, Tom Shatel, Wilson Moore, Ben Doody and Sam McKewon share their score prediction for the Nebraska-Michigan game.
Evan Bland: Nebraska 27, Michigan 24
In a rare meeting of former five-star quarterbacks, Nebraska’s Dylan Raiola holds the experience edge and homefield advantage over UM freshman Bryce Underwood.
These Huskers also have the skill talent to compete unlike many recent encounters with the Wolverines.
A handful of plays will decide this one — NU’s continuity and crowd support might be the tiebreaker.
Sam McKewon: Nebraska 24, Michigan 20
There’s a relationship between making plays and avoiding mistakes, and NU has vastly improved at the latter.
Dylan Raiola throws the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Tom Shatel: Nebraska 24, Michigan 21
The Huskers have the roster, size, depth, coaching and quarterback.
Now, they have the opportunity.
Ben Doody: Nebraska 27, Michigan 26
If you’re extremely confident one way or another about this game, you’re overconfident.
This game felt like a toss-up when the schedule came out, and it feels like a toss-up now.
The betting line — Michigan by 1 1/2 as of Thursday — feels reasonable.
In a game between teams who look good but have a lot to prove, I’ll take Matt Rhule at home over Biff Poggi on the road.
Wilson Moore: Michigan 27, Nebraska 21
Cincinnati exposed a hole in Nebraska’s rush defense, and until the Huskers prove they can stop good teams on the ground, opponents will run the ball.
Michigan averages 243 rushing yards per game, the 15th best mark in the country.
NU will have to show some major improvement from the last time it faced a power conference opponent.
