Olympiacos make their return to the Champions League spotlight on Wednesday, hosting debutants Pafos FC at the Karaiskakis Stadium. The Greek champions are back among Europe’s elite after a four-year absence, securing automatic qualification thanks to an improved UEFA coefficient and their 2024-25 Super League title—marking their first direct entry in over a decade. This will be Olympiacos’ 36th appearance in the Champions League proper, further cementing their status as one of Europe’s most experienced clubs. Despite their recent absence from the competition, Olympiacos made continental history by capturing their first-ever European trophy, defeating Fiorentina in the 2023-24 Conference League final. On the other side, expectations are modest for Pafos, who have already made history by reaching the Champions League group stage just a year after their continental debut in the Conference League, where they exited in the round of 16. Under Juan Carlos Carcedo, Pafos have enjoyed a remarkable rise, claiming their first-ever trophy with the 2023-24 Cypriot Cup and following it up with the league title in 2024-25 to earn their Champions League berth.
