This summer, she shared a photo of an anti-ICE protest in Los Angeles, Calif. and expressed support for immigrant communities across the country. “I’ve lived in L.A. my whole life and I’m deeply upset about these violent deportations of my neighbors under the current administration,” she wrote via her Instagram Story at the time. “L.A. simply wouldn’t exist without immigrants. Treating hardworking community members with such little respect, empathy, and due process is awful. I stand with the beautiful, diverse community of Los Angeles and with immigrants all across America. I stand for our right to freedom of speech and freedom to protest.” This also isn’t the first time the singer has prevented her music from being used by President Donald Trump and his administration. In November 2024, her song “deja vu” was used for a post on Team Trump’s TikTok account after Trump’s second presidential election win. However, the song was removed from the clip shortly after it was uploaded. In the comment section of that TikTok, Rodrigo reportedly wrote, “ew don’t use my sound ever again ty.”
