In a bittersweet farewell to the Costa del Sol’s social scene, British entrepreneur and former The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) star Elliott Wright has announced the closure of his treasured restaurant, Olivia’s, after 10 years of wild success. The iconic eatery and nightclub, right on La Cala’s seafront in the enclave of La Cala de Mijas, will hit the auction block in December, marking the end of an era for a venue that became a destination for many who travelled to the Costa del Sol specifically to visit Elliott’s place. What started as Wright’s passion project in 2015 evolved into a destination dining experience, drawing celebrities, expats, and holidaymakers eager for its lively atmosphere and Wright’s charismatic hosting. The decision to sell comes as Wright, 44, prepares for a new chapter back in the UK, with his family. After a decade of pouring his heart into Olivia’s, Elliott has decided it’s time to step back and focus on family. As the proud father of five – including his newest addition, baby girl Dolly, born this summer to him and wife Sadie Stuart – he cited a desire for more quality time with his loved ones as the driving force behind the move. Elliott Wright to auction Olivia’s in La Cala in December Wright, who built Olivia’s from the ground up, suffered a devastating fire in 2021, and then rebuilt again with blood, sweat, tears, and the camaraderie of the local community, is inviting bids from fellow restaurateurs or investors keen to preserve Olivia’s legacy. Bids need to be in by 12pm by December 5, and the minimum starting bid is €5,000,000. If you’d like to know how to place your bid, get the guide price, see the full sales deck, or understand the minimum requirements, reach out to Sebastian at Bromley Estates Marbella (+34 661 689 956 or olivias@bromleyestatesmarbella.com). Elliott has been reported as saying, “For me, it’s time for a new chapter, but for you, this could be the chance of a lifetime. I keep hearing friends dream of swapping the UK for sunshine and a better life. Well, here it is: the opportunity to own one of the most established and loved restaurants on the Costa del Sol.” Olivia’s closure sparks outpouring of well-wishing for Elliott & family The news has caused an outpouring of nostalgia and well-wishing from patrons and friends. As La Cala de Mijas braces for the Christmas holidays, the community’s whispers turn now to who might, or could possibly, revive the magic – and whether Wright‘s Essex roots will inspire a UK encore. For Wright, the closure caps a remarkable entrepreneurial arc, with a mix of TV fame and business savvy. Yet, with all the farewells and congratulatory messages, what Elliott says rings clear: family first! As Dolly’s first Christmas approaches, Olivia’s final chapter closes on a high note, leaving indelible footprints in the sand.
