The city of Temecula and Baily's Old Town Front Street are attempting to bring live music back to Old Town. Here's how you can help. TEMECULA, CA — In Old Town Temecula, lately, the only song heard has been the "Sound of Silence." Now, both the City Council and Baily's Old Town Front Street, which put its live concerts on hold in July, have reached a temporary agreement, according to recent social media posts. Baily's will host a live concert, featuring its favored band, "Those Guys," on November 6 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the city will evaluate the effectiveness and fairness of decibel measurement during the show. The show sold out within hours, answering the question of whether residents have missed live music in Old Town. Baily's staff has opened up a waitlist in case of cancellations, so if you can't go, let them know. Seating is first-come, first-served, according to the venue, so come early if you want a table. There will be food, drinks and of course, live outdoor music and dancing. Baily's is testing its Conditional Use Permit for outdoor amplified music, according to a statement released by the restaurant and bar. They are still waiting for final building permits from the city, and the wait is almost over. Temecula Mayor Brenden Kalfus has shared that during the event, the city's code enforcement team will conduct tests to verify the decibel limits and the new speaker system that Baily's is implementing, according to Temecula Mayor Brenden Kalfus. "This will be a great step toward updating our sound ordinance, and the general plan, and ultimately bringing live outdoor music back to Old Town Temecula," Kalfus told Patch. On stage, Those Guys will play cover tunes of classic rock and roll, performed by members Kyle Hudson, Anthony Necerato, Steven Hardin and Sean Maier. Patch spoke with Hudson, lead singer of the group, about what makes this venue special. "Baily's is the largest venue we play at," he said. "Between the staff and the crowd, we've always felt welcomed. They have the best stage, visuals, and sound system in the area." From Beastie Boys to The Killers and even Miley Cyrus, the band has something for everyone. "The crowd reciprocates the band's high energy," Hudson said. "Without them, we would just be statues on stage. They are fun and love to party, just like us." Pausing live music until the end of the year has been a hardship for both Baily's and local musicians like Hudson who have fought to keep the music alive. They're still playing at area clubs, but nowhere does it feel like what Baily's has to offer. "It's been really hard for us and for so many of the local musicians who’ve made our stage their home over the years," a Baily's spokesperson said. "We’ve been working nonstop to bring it back, starting the process for sound mitigation permits over a year ago, so we could do everything the right way." The restaurant is also hosting an all-day happy hour the day of the event. "Come early, grab a drink, and be part of a night that’s about more than just music; it’s about community and connection." Baily’s has been a family-owned and operated business in Old Town Temecula since 1992. "We would love to continue being part of this incredible community for many years to come. Your support truly means the world to us."
