While the Edmonton Oilers deal with the Connor McDavid situation, they have made their feelings known about their goaltending. GM Stan Bowman has complete confidence in their tandem, but will take the chance to upgrade should the situation present itself. Recent news reveals that many Oilers fans believe that the time is now.
Heavy.com proposed a trade that would see the Oilers add goaltender Connor Ingram from the Utah Mammoth.
Oilers Acquire:
Connor Ingram ($1.95 million)
Mammoth Acquire:
Mattias Janmark ($1.45 million)
This proposed trade would be a bigger deal for the Oilers than the Mammoth. The Mammoth clear their crowded crease and add a valuable forward. Conversely, the Oilers add a netminder who can push Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard.
In this deal, the Oilers acquire Ingram, 28. The 6-foot-1, 218 lb goaltender was initially drafted in 2016 by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Last season was a down year, where Ingram recorded nine wins, a 3.27 goals against average (GAA), and a .882 save percentage (SV%).
The Mammoth adds Mattias Janmark, 32, in this proposal. The 6-foot-2, 205 lb forward provides grit and speed to any team’s bottom six. The Swedish forward was drafted 79th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 2013. Before coming to the Oilers, he played for the Dallas Stars, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Not-So Secret News About Connor Ingram
On the morning of Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Mammoth insider Cole Bagley released a report on X. In the report, he revealed Ingram’s status within the Mammoth organization.
“BREAKING: Connor Ingram will NOT attend training camp,” Bagley wrote in his post. “He and the team work to find him a new home. Armstrong says they plan to eventually place him on waivers.”
Ingram being on the outside looking in makes sense. The Mammoth signed Vitek Vanecek during the summer, while Ingram was still in the NHLPA Players’ Assistance program. With Karel Vejmelka locked up for the next five years, there is only so much space for another NHL contract on the Mammoth’s roster.
The year before 2024-25, Ingram broke out with a career-best season. In 50 games, he recorded 23 wins, a 2.91 GAA, a .907 SV%, and six shutouts. Considering everything that Ingram dealt with off the ice, with the passing of his mother and mental health issues, it’s reasonable to expect a bounce-back season for the netminder.
Oilers’ Fans Are Clamoring For Ingram

Preston Hodgkinson wrote on X, “Could he be an option for #Oilers? Only makes $1.95 million through this season One year removed from a .907 season with the Coyotes.”
“Had decent numbers before tanking last season while he was going through a mental battle. An upgrade on Pickard for sure if EDM acquired him, but they’d need to clear a little under a million in cap space,” wrote Golden Era Hockey on X.
“Can Edmonton give Ingram a chance?” wrote Karman Gill on X.
Dr.DooALittle wrote on X, “Paging Mr.Bowman.”
“Get ready to eat at Earls in West Ed buddy,” quipped CSWC Andy on X.
