A POWER outage will disrupt a major part of the Ohangwena Region on Sunday when the national power utility, NamPower, undertakes annual maintenance on all high-voltage equipment at the Onuno substation.
The northern power utility, NORED, will simultaneously carry out maintenance and tie in new overhead lines.
According to Simon Lukas, NORED’s Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager, the scheduled power outage will last from 07:00 until 16:30 and will disrupt electricity supply to places such as Helao Nafidi town and the surrounding villages; parts of Eenhana town; and practically all villages west of Eenhana up to the region’s borders with Oshana and Omusati.
Safety tips to prepare for the power interruption include planning ahead for elders/individuals reliant on electricity for medical needs and notifying security/alarm companies monitoring homes/businesses.
Electricity users are also advised to acquaint themselves with how to operate garage doors and security gates manually.
On the other hand, electricity users are advised to treat all electrical installations as live, as power shall be restored without prior notification.
