The Ogun State Government has dismissed allegations that it is frustrating constituency road projects facilitated by Senator Gbenga Daniel, insisting that proper coordination and due process are essential for effective development. Speaking on Frontline, a current affairs programme on Eagle 102.5 FM, Ijebu-Ilese, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, explained that lawmakers in the state routinely notify the government about their constituency projects to aid planning and budgeting. He noted, however, that Senator Daniel had failed to follow this practice. Akinmade stressed that proper communication prevents duplication of efforts. “If a project the state is contemplating is already captured in the federal budget, the state government will divert its own resources to another road. But in a situation where there is no communication, that’s the problem,” he said. He further urged contractors handling constituency projects to collaborate closely with relevant ministries, assuring that the government would never intentionally block development initiatives that bring relief to the people. Highlighting Governor Abiodun’s achievements, Akinmade stated that the administration had completed over 1,200 kilometres of roads across the 20 local governments, including the reconstruction of federal highways such as the Ijebu-Ode–Epe road to international standards. According to him, Ogun’s economy has expanded significantly from ₦3.5 trillion in 2019 to ₦16 trillion in 2025, attracting waves of investors to Sagamu, Papalanto and other hubs. Plans for a Disneyland and an entertainment complex, he added, would further revolutionise the state’s business climate. He revealed that the renovation of the tourism landmark, Olumo Rock, now generates about ₦20 million weekly, while the May 2025 NBS report showed Ogun had the lowest food price increase nationwide. Akinmade also described Ogun as “arguably the most secure state in Nigeria,” pointing to its ₦500 billion agricultural partnership with Lagos State and farmers’ markets in Abeokuta that help stabilise food prices. “In the last six years, Ogun State has remained investors’ destination of choice,” he declared, citing Governor Abiodun’s focus on infrastructure, ICT, peace, and economic growth.
