The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis on the occasion of the nation’s 42nd Anniversary of Independence. The celebration, held under the theme “Perpetual Progress – A Sustainable Future in View,” was commemorated on September 19, 2025.
In his remarks, Dr. Didacus Jules, Director General of the OECS, lauded St. Kitts and Nevis for its vision, resilience, and innovation, highlighting that greatness is not measured by size. He commended the Federation on its perpetual progress, citing achievements in universal education, a thriving tourism industry, and advancements in digital governance, healthcare, and financial services. Dr. Jules also pointed to St. Kitts and Nevis’s trailblazing efforts in renewable energy, including geothermal and solar initiatives, which have positioned the country at the forefront of clean energy in the Caribbean.
The OECS acknowledged the profound contributions St. Kitts and Nevis has made to the growth and development of the OECS region, reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to supporting the nation’s development aspirations. The independence celebrations in St. Kitts and Nevis included ceremonial parades, the presentation of national awards, and a unifying “Toast to the Nation.”
