Nabarangpur: The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) was conducted in Nabarangpur district Saturday, drawing participation from over 2,300 candidates, including the spouses of two prominent political leaders.
Chaiti Gond, wife of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, and Taruni Majhi, wife of Nabarangpur MLA Gouri Shankar Majhi, appeared for the exam at their respective centres in compliance with state guidelines. Chaiti teaches at Dongriguda UV-3 School in Umerkote block, while Taruni is a teacher at Jetugada School in Nandahandi block.
The OTET was held in two sittings across 10 centres in the district. In the morning session, 787 of 848 registered candidates appeared, while 61 were absent. In the second sitting, 1,534 of 1,598 turned up, with 64 absentees.
District Collector Dr Maheswar Swain, the Additional Collector, and the District Education Officer visited several centres to oversee the conduct of the examinations.
