O.C. Halloween happenings: Registration is open for those who would like to participate in Ocean City’s annual Halloween Parade or Halloween House Decorating Contest.
The 77th annual Halloween Parade will start at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 30 on Asbury Avenue from Sixth Street to 11th Street. Participants will be grouped as follows:
• Children or groups of children up to age 12
• Children or groups of children over 12, family groups and adult groups
• Animals and pets in costume
• Organizations marching in costume (churches, nonprofits, etc.)
• Cheerleaders and drill or dance teams
• Non-commercial floats
• Commercial floats
To register to be in the parade, email oceancity_halloween@yahoo.com. Include names and ages of participants, email, phone number and the division you are registering for.
Medals and trophies will be awarded to first- and second-place entrants. Judges will evaluate based on appearance, originality and artistry. All award winners will be notified by phone or email the day after the parade. For more information, visit ochp.blogspot.com.
The sixth annual Halloween House Decorating Contest will award prizes to homes and businesses in a variety of categories. Deadline for registration is 4 p.m. Oct. 20. Judging will take place the evenings of Oct. 22 and 23. Winners will receive gift certificate prize packages.

Active adult expo: The Marjorie & Lewis Katz JCC in Margate will host its Active Adult & Senior Expo from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The event is free and open to the public.
Highlights will include vaccinations and screenings; fitness and healthy living demonstrations; a Red Cross blood drive; exhibitor booths and community resources; giveaways and refreshments.
“We continue to grow this event because we understand the importance of providing access to resources, education and engaging experiences for older adults,” said Marg Rosenblatt, CEO of the Katz JCC. “This Expo represents our commitment to uplifting our community through wellness, connection and care.”

Holocaust survivors ceremony: A Mitzvah Zecher Avot service (the good deed of remembering family) will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Holocaust survivors section of the Rodef Sholom Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township. The free and open-to-the-public service is for Holocaust survivors and their families.
The cemetery is located at 6691 Black Horse Pike. RSVP is required by contacting Stockton University’s Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at 609-652-4699 or hrc@stockton.edu. A virtual Zoom option is available. Should inclement weather occur, the service will be held completely on Zoom.
Race of Gentlemen: The Race of Gentlemen vintage car and motorcycle beach drag races will be held Oct. 3 to 5 in Wildwood. Pre-1934 cars and pre-1947 motorcycles will race along the water’s edge. The races will include live music, a kids’ area, food and beer vendors.
On Oct. 2, a swap meet and kickoff party will be held at 8 a.m. at Jersey Girl Kitchen & Bar, 3601 Atlantic Ave.
On Oct. 3, the swap meet continues at Jersey Girl Kitchen & Bar from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a Night of the Troglodyte Party at the Lazy Bass at 5 Old North Wildwood Blvd.
Oct. 4 is race day. Gates open at 8 a.m., and racing begins around 9-9:30 a.m. A post-race beach party will be held at PigDog Beach Bar BBQ, located on Morey’s Pier at 3501 Boardwalk, featuring live music and a bonfire on the beach.
More beach racing takes place Oct. 5, with gates opening at 8 a.m. and races beginning around 9-9:30 a.m.
Single-day and weekend passes are available online and on site at the entry. All attendees ages 6-16 need a valid paid ticket to enter. Kids 5 and under are free all weekend. A.C. Police Hero Luncheon: The Atlantic City Police Foundation will hold its annual Hero Luncheon at noon Oct. 24 at Council Oak Steak & Seafood at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. James Kutch, the foundation’s treasurer, and Atlantic City police Sgt. Jonathan Walsh will be honored. Proceeds from the luncheon will help support the Atlantic City Police Department.

Antique auto winners: Mayor Leonard Desiderio presented two awards during Sea Isle City’s Fall Family Festival Antique Auto Show on Sept. 14 along the Promenade.
The Best of Show award went to Howard Barth, of Wildwood Crest, for his red 1960 Chevrolet Corvette. The Mayor’s Choice winner was Gregory Guarini, of Ocean View, for his creamy white 1985 Cadillac Eldorado convertible.
After the awards ceremony, the classic cars cruised through Sea Isle during the Fall Family Festival Antique Auto Parade.
BBBS board holds: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties will retain its executive officers for 2026. The board leadership remains unchanged, with Erin Feldman Mendez as chair, Priscilla McCoy as vice chair, Kathleen Norton Gallaher as treasurer and immediate past chair, and Christopher Wolf as secretary.
