Before we get to today’s NYT Connections hints and answers, here’s what you missed on Monday: ForbesNYT Connections Hints Today: Monday, October 27 Clues And Answers (#869)By Kris Holt Hey there, Connectors! I hope your week is off to a great start. I’m midway through my rewatch of Stranger Things, having just started season 3. I wanted to run through the show again before the final season starts next month. All of the cast give great performances – I’d almost forgotten just how good David Harbour is in this show. But it had really slipped my mind just how lovely and endearing Sean Astin’s performance is in season 2. The writing doesn’t give him a ton to work with, but he makes Bob Newby such a lovely, kind-hearted character. Once I’m caught up on this show, I’m tempted to plop in the Blu-rays of The Lord of The Rings trilogy I bought earlier this year and haven’t watched yet. Astin is fantastic in those films too. Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Tuesday, October 28 are coming right up. Let’s get rolling! NYT Connections Hints – How To Play Connections is a free New York Times daily word game that you can play on the NYT’s website or Games app. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the Connections archive, which includes every previous game. MORE FOR YOU Connections presents you with a grid of 16 words (sometimes phrases, symbols or numbers). The aim is to arrange them into four groups of four. You don’t know how they hit together or what the category for each group is: that’s what you have to figure out. There’s only one correct solution and there are often red herrings. You can guess incorrectly three times. A fourth wrong guess, and it’s game over. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to deduce, followed by blue, green and purple. Often, the yellow and green groups have synonyms, the blues have cultural references and the purples have some kind of wordplay involved. But this is not a hard and fast rule. Be ready for curveballs – part of the fun of Connections is in how the NYT shakes things up to keep you on your toes. As with Wordle and similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends using an emoji-based grid. The game tracks your progress too. Many players take pride in having long win streaks or getting a reverse rainbow – correctly guessing the purple, blue, green and yellow groups in that order with no mistakes. That adds an extra little challenge. NYT Connections Hints – Today’s Word List Scroll slowly! I’ll first give you a list of today’s words, then a hint for each category. Here we go… 🟨 Yellow group — TROPE 🟩 Green group — HIP 🟦 Blue group — HOME 🟪 Purple group — OCHER NYT Connections Hints – Groups/Categories Today’s Connections groups are... 🟨 Yellow group — banality 🟩 Green group — in the know 🟦 Blue group — remote control buttons 🟪 Purple group — one-named singer plus starting letter NYT Connections Answers Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers. This is your last chance to look away. This is your final warning! Today’s Connections answers are... 🟨 Yellow group — banality (CHESTNUT, CLICHÉ, PLATITUDE, TROPE) 🟩 Green group — in the know (AWARE, HIP, SAVVY, WISE) 🟦 Blue group — remote control buttons (BACK, HOME, MENU, SELECT) 🟪 Purple group — one-named singer plus starting letter (GUSHER, KENYA, OCHER, PELVIS) Off the bat, OCHER felt like a super purple-coded word. Probably because I didn’t know what it meant. But it immediately seemed like a super purple-coded word. KENYA didn’t really fit with anything else, so there was probably some wordplay going on there too. Anyway, I zipped through the greens and the blues quickly. I feel like we've had a group of remote control buttons a few times in the past? CLICHÉ and TROPE initially made me think of overdone plot points in fiction, but I finally realized at this point that, because of PLATITUDE, that wasn't quite what we were looking for. My first yellow guess was with GUSHER, but that put me one away. Annoyingly, the phrase "oh, that old CHESTNUT" popped into my head immediately afterwards. So I had the yellows. That left what were evidently the purples. After a minute of staring at the words, I had it all figured out. They refer to (G)Usher, (K)Enya, (O)Cher and (P)Elvis. In hindsight, PELVIS probably should have been a giveaway. And hey, look at that, my winning streak is up to 241. Nine more to go until a nice little number. How did you get on this time? "Suspicious Minds" is probably my favorite Elvis Presley song, and I much prefer this performance to the studio version. This was Elvis at his absolute best. The energy is fantastic, that bass line is just wonderful... really, every musician on that stage gives an excellent performance: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other!
