More than 1,800 prospective corps members have been registered for the 2025 Batch B (Stream II) Orientation Course in Kaduna State, which formally opened on Friday at the temporary NYSC Orientation Camp, Government College, Kaduna.
In her address, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Efeke Murna Dadaza, disclosed that the fresh intake comprises both Kaduna and FCT contingents, with hundreds of males and females making up the final tally.
She confirmed that the corps members have so far exhibited good behaviour and are expected to sustain discipline throughout the three-week programme.
To strengthen the scheme, Governor Uba Sani last week donated a brand new Toyota Hilux to the NYSC Kaduna Secretariat.
Represented at the swearing-in ceremony by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, the governor assured that the state had already approved the constitution of a governing board and promised to resolve the lingering issue of a permanent orientation site.
While the old permanent camp is currently under military occupation, the governor pledged that a new permanent orientation camp would be built if a suitable alternative facility is not secured.
Mrs. Dadaza, in her breakdown of camp activities, explained that corps members would undergo military drills, citizenship and leadership training, language studies, sports, and social engagements.
She added that all participants would also receive practical training in Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), aimed at reducing post-service unemployment by equipping them with vocational and business skills.
