Seasoned politician and founding member of the New Patriotic Party, Nyaho Tamakloe, has called for the immediate arrest and removal of Abena Osei Asare as Chair of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), arguing she should be held accountable alongside former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. He made these assertions when he was speaking over the weekend on Power FM’s political talk show program called ‘Inside Politics’. Ofori-Atta, who served as Finance Minister for eight years, recently escaped accountability by traveling to the United States. The government, through the Office of the Special Prosecutor, has since issued a red alert for him. Nyaho insists that Osei Asare, who was Ofori-Atta’s deputy during the same period, cannot claim innocence. “If he’s wanted for the mess in our finances, she is equally responsible,” Nyaho said emphatically. He slammed Osei Asare’s continued leadership of the PAC, the committee tasked with scrutinizing public accounts. “If she had any morals, she wouldn’t sit in that chair. She helped bring the country to its knees, and now she’s questioning others? No. She must be removed. And be removed now,” Nyaho declared. He added that President John Mahama must act decisively to leave a credible legacy. “He must forge ahead without looking to the right or left,” Nyaho said.
