Mouttet Mile Race Day is set for December 6, 2025 with the main feature being the US$300,000 Mouttet Mile (invitational) to be run over one mile (1,600m). The horses, which were brought down from the United States, were affected by the recent passage of Hurricane Melissa, which disrupted their training. “The two horses were uncomfortable. They were in air condition stalls and with the loss of electricity due to the hurricane meant the air conditioning wasn’t working, causing the horses some discomfort. They were uncomfortable for a few days being not used to the temperature here,” Nunes told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide. Despite the setback, Nunes believes the horses are now back to normal. “They are alright. They are back in air condition now and so they will be fine. Nautical Star will compete in the Mouttet Mile, while Of a Revolution will run in another race,” Nunes added. Nautical Star is dark bay horse bred by Dixie Chatter out of Kiss Me Chocolate. He has won three races from 11 starts. While, Of a Revolution is a chestnut horse bred by Maclean’s Music out of Hot Spell, and has won four races from 18 starts. Nunes acknowledged that the lack of a prep run is not ideal, but he is optimistic about their chances. “They will not get a race in before the big day because we don’t have the time. [And] this [Hurricane Melissa] made it worst that they missed three or four days of training,” Nunes explained. Nunes also praised the horses’ abilities. Nautical Star seems to be a decent horse. I didn’t buy him; he was bought by One Guyana Racing. Saffie Joseph trained these horses up in the States and he suggested to One Guyana Racing people to give me an opportunity with them and they seem to be decent horses. “They are older horses, they have raced quite a few times but you can see that there is back class there and they have ability. Unfortunately they won’t get to race before Mouttet Mile but that’s fine,” he said. Of a Revolution is being attended by Damion Brown, assistant trainer at Anthony nunes’ stable. Barnaby, trained by Anthony Nunes, has already qualified for the Mouttet Mile. {"xml":"xml"}{"jamaica-observer":"Jamaica Observer"} 0 Comments · Make a comment ALSO ON JAMAICA OBSERVER Latest News, News Firearm seized in Riversdale, St Catherine November 10, 2025 ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The police have recovered a 9mm pistol and an affixed magazine during an operation conducted in the Lodge district of Riversda... {"jamaica-observer":"Jamaica Observer"} Latest News, News US pledges additional US$10 million for Jamaica’s hurricane recovery November 10, 2025 KINGSTON, Jamaica — The United States (US) has pledged an additional US$10 million to support Jamaica’s recovery from the devastating impact of Hurric... {"jamaica-observer":"Jamaica Observer"} Latest News, News WATCH: Taxi operators patch potholes on Red Hills Road November 10, 2025 KINGSTON, Jamaica — A group of taxi operators on Sunday came together to patch several potholes in the vicinity of Calabar High School and Lees Food F... {"jamaica-observer":"Jamaica Observer"} Latest News, News Chef charged with attempted murder November 10, 2025 KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 35-year-old chef has been slapped with several charges including attempted murder following an incident on Wellington Street in ... {"jamaica-observer":"Jamaica Observer"} Latest News, News UPDATE: Two killed in plane crash en route to Jamaica November 10, 2025 Two people were killed on Monday when a plane crashed in Florida while on its way to Jamaica for hurricane relief efforts.
